A Brief History of Last Month and Yesterday

About 3 weeks ago a coworker invited me over to his house and we walked down the street to another coworker's house for dinner. I was noticing that night how nice it was to be growing a social circle that didn't pre-date the last 3 years. I'm a little sad, but also happy, that everything is about to get shook up again.

A couple of weeks ago, in Ocean City, at our annual conference. Joel. No time for photos, really.

It would be ridiculous to posture that I'm not affected by my job. I've had the opportunity, at my current job, to peer into the personal lives of roughly a few thousand people. Often, when I arrive at the office, the news for the day reads like 6 or 7 chapters of the Darwin Awards. I've seen sides of humanity that most people don't get the chance to see, on a daily basis; people at their worst moments. You develop, over time, a thick veneer. Conversely, normal every day occurrences (i.e., someone holding the door for you, a friendly "good morning", catching someone stealing a glance at you) become incredibly beautiful experiences.

Also, I must remind myself to write something about the act of gift giving.

yup.

Geoff got much better pictures of this convertible than I.

Baltimore.

Like Oil and Water.

This is one big mountain of something that I've wanted to take a picture of for 3 years.
One of my 7 offices I'll miss.

Below is a picture I asked Geoff to snap out the passenger-side window while we were waiting at a red light. That in mind, I think it turned out considerably well. Where was she going? I'm pretty sure she was sitting at a bus stop. All behavior is purposeful, I remind myself. People don't just sit outside boarded up Chinese food restaurants with luggage in tow without a reason.

We drove to Canton for some night shots. I didn't really get any but it was good to walk around. Michael Phelps' homecoming was going on across the harbor at Fort McHenry and I was going to write something about him lighting off his own fireworks and include some pics but I didn't feel like my time uploading them would be well spent. There were plenty of fireworks at Fort McHenry, though, in celebration of Michael Phelps, who, incidentally was there. Below is a pic of another scary white people's bar. To be honest, I've never been to a scary black people's bar. We did go in, later, and were 2 of 5 people there at any given point. The pool table already had 2 quarters in it, and somebody left a $20 bill in the ATM. I gave the free $20 to the bartender who said, "You're honest. You're like me, you're honest." Geoff lost the pool game on a scratch. My game was miserable. $1.50 Coors Lights, for any of you who're celebratin'.

Crabs. And in the other seat, Baltimore.

  2. Yep, I am currently offered actual employment in CO but I have NONE of my ducks in a row. I'm just starting now to try to line them up, though. Phew! We're talking about a month to go.

  4. Well even though you bunch of a-holes are so unfailingly nasty I will jump in here to join you in saying congrats to Kevin, also.

Kev and the Chief have turned out to be good friends, and we've had some good times. And of course I love big brother Steve. My current plan is to get the Chesapeake video done for Christmas. My current plans tend to be wildly unpredictable, so who knows. But I think Christmas is realistic.

This is a great post. I hope you can keep the blog going.
