Obama in VA Again!

"Dropping into the Shenandoah Valley, Obama spoke first to about 8,000 people who spilled onto a soccer field at James Madison University because the indoor site was too packed.
Inside, Obama found 12,000 more people, mostly students who were too excited to sit."

JMU is in the heart of Rockingham County, one of the most conservative places in all of Virginia. The population is heavily evangelical and mennonite. If Obama can pull 40 percent in the most rightwing bit of VA this will be a deep blue state. I can tell you from my years living in the Valley that this is a place no democrat would ever go to before. I was amazed two weeks ago when I drove through Luray and saw that there was a busy Obama and Warner office right on Main Street, and while McCain signs still dominated the landscape there were plenty of O's to be seen as well.
Oh, and a drive through Richmond on Saturday confirms that the Fan may be the bluest part of Virginia. O signs outnumber M ten to one along Grace, Grove and Monument.

  1. Oh yeah, and two polls out of AZ today show a 2 point McCain lead, which is within the MOE.
