This is Some System

Consider that someone can get a 15 year sentence for drug charges (say Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Distribution, and our favorite: Conspiracy) while another individual can receive 4 years (if the judge is a real hard-ass) for Vehicular Manslaughter while under the influence. Wow. That one surprised even me this week.

  1. Violent criminals and sexual predators often get off with lighter sentences than drug offenders, thanks to mandatory minimum sentencing. That's just one of the wonderful perks of the War on Drugs.
