Already this evening I have delivered GOTV info to nearly 100 houses in Fairfax. I will be back on the streets later tonight. I hope all you digital slacking camel asses appreciate me turning Virginia blue for you.
I got to my precinct at 4:50am hoping to be first. Alas, I was second in line behind an African American woman. As excited as I was I'm sure it was on an entirely other level for her. It took 389 years to go from slavery at Jamestown to victory and the presidency via the northern VA vote.By 5:15 there were at least 75 people in line, and when they opened the polls at 6 the line was wrapped all through the school. This year they're using your choice of optical scan paper ballots or electronic. It looked like almost everyone was choosing paper. Oh, and the Democratic Party had a lawyer sitting next to the check in tables insuring the right to vote.
Maryland really is a waste of time, on many counts. One reason to go to the polls today: to vote "no" on slots. Scam of the century here, and the gov is making us pay for it in budget cuts and furloughs, just to get big business passed.
You can cry until Virginia's blue in the face...
ReplyDeleteWe got three Obama door hangers today alone!
No, we meant to, but it didn't work out. We'll be braving the crowds tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteMaryland is a done deal anyway, but glad there was at least some line.
