This is the Blackwater Falls state Park. It is located in the mtns. west of Dolly Sods. You can gget there by forking left at the top of dolly sods road rather than the way we go over to the trails. Then go down the mtn to Lanesville and take the road through the Canaan Valley. Michelle surprised me for my 3oth with a 3 day trip there. We stayed in the lodgt on the edge of the massive blackwater gorge. Did a lot of hiking, and toured a cave.
Which state is the park in? It looks great, and the water level is good. The only thing is why is the water yellow? Is it from the sediments? Is it supposed to be yellow?
I guess it doesn't really matter whether or not it's yellow because with the current so strong, there is no chance of swimming in it.
The night before I took this pic there was four inches of rain. I'm guessing the yellow is mud and other run-off. The park by the way is in central West VA.
pray tell, where is it? Beautiful. Looks like the yougheghany in west va.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM!!!
